Pomerantz Named to the National Law Journal's 2011 Plaintiffs' Hot List

NEW YORK, October 3, 2011 The National Law Journal (“NLJ”) has named Pomerantz Haudek Grossman & Gross LLP to its prestigious Plaintiffs’ Hot List for 2011. The Firm was recognized for its work representing plaintiffs in securities litigation and ERISA-related actions.

According to the NLJ article published October 3, 2011, the Hot List features 20 firms that are “at the cutting edge of plaintiffs’ work – and that are giving defense players a run for their money.”

“We are very pleased that major accomplishments on behalf of our clients have garnered this highly esteemed recognition,” said Marc I. Gross, Pomerantz’s Managing Partner.

The NLJ highlighted three of the Firm’s settled negotiated securities- and ERISA-related settlements in 2010, valued at $575 million: In re Comverse Tech. Inc. Sec. Litig., a $225 million settlement, including a $60 million payment from former Chief Executive Officer Jacob "Kobi" Alexander — the largest payment by an individual in securities class actions; New Mexico State Inv. Council, New Mexico Pub. Employees' Retirement Ass'n and New Mexico Educ. Retirement Board v. Countrywide Financial Corp, in which Pomerantz, with co-counsel, opted out of a parallel class action to pursue a highly successful, though confidential, settlement in New Mexico state court. And the largest-ever health insurance recovery, AMA v. United Health Care Corp., in which Pomerantz engineered a $350 million settlement against UnitedHealth Group for under-reimbursement of services from out-of-network doctors and providers.
