This case was filed against GlaxoSmithKline alleging that it filed baseless patent lawsuits against generic drug manufacturers in order to delay their entry into the Wellbutrin SR and Zyban markets. Wellbutrin SR is a drug used to treat depression. Zyban, which contains the same buproprion hydrochloride ingredient as Wellbutrin SR, is an aid for smoking cessation.  This alleged misuse of the legal system for an anticompetitive purpose has forced consumers and health insurance companies to purchase Wellbutrin SR at artificially inflated prices and deprived them of the opportunity to purchase a less expensive, therapeutically equivalent generic product. World-wide annual sales of Wellbutrin exceed $1 billion. The firm serves as one of three primary counsel in this case.  The case is pending in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
